Tracking all my days and vertical feet.
Here we go….
YAYYYY! I manifested this board. I put in an order to the Universe for a reverse camber, twin tip, 149-151cm, about a 5 on the flex scale board - and here it is. Free.
Last years Burton Lipstick(and I love turquoise) with BEAUTIFUL new purple EST Lexa Bindings. OMG. I canNOT wait to ride this as soon as I get back to CO from TN.
And I have AWESOME friends. Thank you Zoe for bringing my creation into form. Wish I could give you a big hug right now.

Oh Boy! A package!
I was sitting in the living room on the computer in my bra and I heard a big truck pull up. Normally I wouldnt think anything of it, but today, all of a sudden, something in my head went, “Thats my snowboard!!!” I ran and put on a shirt and opened the door before the UPS man could even get to it.

Opening day at-A-basin was a blizzard. Stories of 8-10” the first week. Here we go…..
Last night Mauricio texted me about riding. I’ve been bitching about my broke board and my lack of a new one that is sufficient to my liking. Which is reverse camber and about a 5 on the flex scale. But I have been provided with a board to get me through. So after a first reply of ‘No, I’ve got too much to do tomorrow,” I checked my attitude and re-thought my decision. I also checked the snow report. Breck was on top with 18” last 72 hours and 8” last 24 hours. My attitude changed to one of optimism and adventure and I quickly texted back with questions of when I needed to awake.
Man, I can’t remember the last time I was up this early- wait, yes I can- it was last snow season at some point. Cause riding is the ONLY thing I get up this early for. 6:30am and I was making some muselii into oatmeal(best idea ever- the nuts and berries are already in there to make it extra tasty) and headed over to The Hill at 7am. Jill let me borrow her board- which was a little less stiff and more my size than the one I had been provided- and I promptly switched to my bindings, and Mauricio and I headed over to the girl’s house we were leaving from. Turned out I knew her. The driver finally showed up at 8:10am. (ya I coulda slept a bit more, but whatever at this point.) What was truly exciting was that the snow report now showed Breck to have received 20” in the last 24 hours. OMG. Really?
We headed up- a little later than planned, but actually great for road conditions as the sun had come out and melted the snow on the pavement. No worries, it was a Wednesday and there was plenty of snow to go around. We arrived in Breck to rock star parking.

The lift line looked horrid, but was actually moving pretty fast- thanks to pretty much locals only. No east coast kiddies holding the line up. Everybody here has been to the rodeo before…..

At first I couldn’t tell where the 20” was. It sure wasn’t in town or at the base of the mountain. We cut lookers right and dropped in first run. Annnnnnd I was buried.

Ha, wasn’t quite ready for that-def dont have my riding legs yet. Cassie, our driver was burried too- It took us about 10min to get out.

We took about 2-4 more runs and had been debating the T-bar (which my first time was an embarrassing scene for me last year….)

So I was nervous about it on the first day, not to mention we heard the line was an hour long. We finally decided to go and me and Mauricio joined a T and hopped right on first try.

We even made it all the way up. Yes, there was snow up here. Deep and deceiving. Had to man up and get my legs back right then, that was for sure. At one point, the terrain looked flat and I tried to bomb across it and just disappeared about waist deep.
The second T-bar run was not as successful. Mauricio lost it not even half way up and pulled me down with him. It was a sight Im sure. We flipped over each other and tried to get out of the way before the next T came over us. I rode down, found a single and hopped back on. I stuck with the guy and his buddies for that run, as long as I could. They stopped for a safety meeting and I headed out, only to cartwheel and bury myself about 3 more times before making it back to the T-bar. Exhausted, I wanted all out of this day I could muster and decided, after calling the crew, that I was going for one more run and then going all the way down.
I found them at the bar and we hung for a bit before heading down the gondola. Interesting that I havent really been drinking for a bit. I am usually a ski season alcoholic. Catching that buzz just makes riding even more fun than it already is… I had nothing today. We’ll see how the season goes…..
I kept overhearing skiers stating that this was one of the best pow days ever. Epic first day, hands down. The POW! knocked us out ;)

I guess Loveland Pass was actually closed today because of the snow- what a way to start the season!!!

I am slightly jealous on this day. Still need a pass-and still need a board. (and really need new goggles too, although that would NOT keep me from going.)
But instead of being sad that I have none of those things- I am looking forward to having them and getting this season off to a good start. Getting excited for the season ahead- looking at ski and snowboard mags with frantic anticipation.
Please send the good energy of wishes for new gear :)
and hopefully my DAY counter will start rolling SOON!
this is one of the funnest websites ever. Mikey, you guys slay it. thanks for making a legit snowboard company.
